Goal of recommendations made for freshman science courses is to place a student where they will have the most success at learning the Biology Content.

Students who exhibit the following academic skills and needs will be recommended for Biology CP-1.

  • Student does not bring all necessary materials to class on a daily basis.
  •  Student struggles with academic deadlines.
  • Student needs extra support with planning, organization, and basic academic instruction.
  •  Student struggles with asking for help.
  • Student struggles to pass assessments.
  • Student is still developing basic math and graphing skills.
  • Student is still developing reading comprehension and written expression skills.
  • Student may need redirection to stay on task and struggles with independent work.
  • Student may need adult supervision with socially demanding learning activities.

Students who exhibit the following academic skills and needs will be recommended for Biology CP-2.

  • Student frequently brings all necessary materials to class on a daily basis.
  • Student meets most academic deadlines.
  • Student is independently able to plan and organize assignments and work.
  • Student sometimes asks for help.
  • Student is often able to independently prepare for assessment
  • Student has mastered basic math skills, but may still struggle with application.
  • Student has mastered ability to read and represent data in graph format.
  • Student is able to solve word problems with support from teacher.
  • Student has developed reading comprehension and written expression skills.
  • Student is learning how to apply learned concepts to new situations.
  • Student is often able to stay on task and work independently.
  • Student is able to collaborate and communicate effectively with some supervision.

Students who exhibit the following academic skills and needs will be recommended for Biology CP-3.

  • Student is consistently prepared for class.
  • Student meets all academic deadlines.
  • Student is able to manage their time and multiple assignments.
  • Student asks for help, when needed.
  • Student consistently is prepared for assessments.
  • Student has mastered basic math skills and can use and apply them to new scientific situations.
  • Student has an excellent understanding of data represented in a graph format.
  • Student is able to successfully solve word problems independently.
  • Student has mastered reading skills so that they can read and comprehend new scientific material independently.
  • Student is able to effectively communicate in writing.
  • Excels at independent work.
  • Student is self directed, highly motivated and seeks academic challenges.
